One God, Three Persons – it sounds so simple when you put it like that. Back to my informal poll of priests, who were evenly divided on which homily they dreaded most: preaching on the Trinity or preaching about money. Why did they dread preaching on the Trinity? Because once you get past the basic “One God, Three Persons” thing, it can be hard to talk about the Trinity in a way that helps people, let alone makes any sense. If you’re not careful, it can start to sound something like the meme that gives this post its title:
Well if it really isn't just something bizarre or silly, then what is the Trinity? The point of the Trinity is the relationship between Jesus, the God that Jesus called Father, and the Comforter that Jesus promised he would send. More on this in my next.
