Last Sunday was Easter, the big event in the Church’s year.
Starting with Ash Wednesday, Lent gave us a month plus of build-up, with all kinds of extra services and stuff. Then with Maundy Thursday, Good Friday, and Holy Saturday, everything went into slow-motion. To make sure we didn’t miss a thing.
After all of that, what’s left to say about Easter?
Actually, a lot. One of the most important things is what this Sunday - Divine Mercy Sunday - is all about.
Just like Sunday’s Gospel, the Divine Mercy shows us that Easter isn’t just a one-time event.
That Easter is about the unending mercy of God. The power of that unending mercy to reach us wherever we are. And the gift of that mercy to each one of us.
That Easter is personal.
