Divine Mercy Sunday (last Sunday) offers us part of the “why” behind Easter. It tells us some of what motivates such a sacrifice for each of us. In a way, Divine Mercy Sunday shows us Easter from God’s perspective.
The 3rd Sunday of Easter shows us the aftermath of the Resurrection. The readings show us the impact of the Resurrection on both the larger culture (Acts), as well as on those closest to Jesus (Luke).
For those closest to Jesus, there is Jesus’ endless patience, an amazing moment where the Second Person of the Trinity helps people understand just what has happened. For those most responsible for Jesus’ crucifixion, there is something even more amazing – forgiveness.
The 3rd Sunday of Easter shows us Easter from a human perspective. And it’s like nothing we’ve ever seen before.
