When all the Christmas things showed up in stores, it meant something. Actually, it meant a couple of things. There was the obvious meaning – buy this stuff. And a more subtle one – Halloween’s almost here.
Some things in life are like that, they have deeper meanings beyond the obvious. They can tell you what’s coming. If you know what to look for.
Sunday’s first reading (Micah) does just that. It tells us what to look for when the Messiah, the Christ comes. Both where it’s going to happen, and about the other (indispensable) forerunner. Okay, why?
To make sure we know exactly what we’re seeing in Sunday’s Gospel (Luke).
