Last week’s Supreme Court decision on same-sex marriage made it obvious (even to people like me) that we’re not in a place where we can take Christianity for granted any more. In truth, we never were.
Which is why, like God’s call to Ezekiel, God’s call to us is kind of scary. Like Ezekiel, we’re called to reach out in love to people who won’t like us.
In the first reading (Ezekiel), it’s easy to miss what happens before God’s call to Ezekiel. Ezekiel draws close to God, and is filled with the Spirit. Whatever happens next, Ezekiel won’t be going it alone.
Like Ezekiel, we’re not called to go it alone. If we draw close to God, God will be with us. Always.
More on this tomorrow.
