No pressure

Your older sister is simply brilliant.  So when you show up to class at the start of the year, as soon as the teacher figures out who you are, you hear it.  Every time.  “She’s your big sister?  We’ll be expecting great things from you.”

No pressure.

And no respect if you don’t match her point for point.  “An A?  (sigh) You do know she got an A+ on that one?”

Elisha, the prophet in Sunday’s first reading (2 Kings), knows just how rotten that feels.

Elisha was trained by Elijah, one of the greatest prophets of his time.  And pretty much all time.  He was such a geyser of awesome that, instead of dying (like the rest of us), God took Elijah into heaven in a chariot of fire.

And that's what Elisha has to follow.  No pressure.
