When it comes to happiness, most of us aren't that clear about what it really is. Which isn't surprising with the mixed bag of signals we get from the media and pop culture. Endless products are pushed with the notion that they will make us happy.
And their version of happiness? It's really just satisfying a craving. You get to be happy for a moment. Until you want it again.
Which is a great way to sell a product over and over. But not much of a life.
The joy and happiness in Sunday's readings aren't temporary, or even the focus. The joy and happiness in the readings are byproducts. Overflowing from the one relationship that is their only constant source.
