It’s not just people who live in church.

In Sunday’s Old Testament reading, God keeps calling Samuel until he gets it.  But what if we aren’t like Samuel?  What if God doesn’t wake us up in the middle of the night?

Sunday’s Gospel (John) shows us that there is no one way that we are called to follow Jesus.  The call might come from Jesus directly.  Or it might come from an imposing figure like John.  Or it might come from someone we see every day.

But what if we aren’t like Samuel?  What if we don’t (literally) live in church?  What if our moms didn’t set us aside for God before we were born?

Sunday’s Gospel also shows us who is called to follow Jesus.  And it’s not just people who live in church.  More on this tomorrow.
