I’ve got a friend who makes cakes. Amazing cakes. They look great, and everyone loves them. And after seeing one of her simpler ones, I said to myself, “I can do that.” So I did.
Only, I didn’t. Really, it didn’t look like much of a cake at all. Which isn’t that surprising. I was just guessing on what to do, since I didn’t have the recipe.
The Gospel for All Saints is the Beatitudes (Matthew). It’s all the “Blessed are the...” sayings (“Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the Kingdom of heaven,” etc.). Which has what to do with All Saints Day?
