In Sunday’s Gospel (Mark) a leper, a dying man, makes a desperate plea for healing. Moved with pity, Jesus heals him. What Jesus says next sounds odd – “See that you tell no one anything.”
If there's a complete opposite of what we expected Jesus to say, this is probably it. If we had just healed someone, we would love it if someone got the word out. Preferably by shamelessly drawing attention to just how awesome we are.
But that’s not Jesus. Instead, Jesus sends him back to the priest, to end the separation demanded for leprosy.
Jesus doesn’t just heal his disease, Jesus heals his life.
More on this tomorrow.
