A Moment before the 17th Sunday in Ordinary Time

God makes promises and then delivers on His promises.  It’s one of the themes that runs through the Old Testament.  Time after time, God shows that He is faithful.  Even if things feel overwhelming or impossible, God is bigger than that, and God can be trusted.

Sunday’s first reading (2 Kings) is one of the miracles that God does through Elisha.  And it’s one of those many moments where we get to see God being good for His word.  God is exactly who He says He is.

In Sunday’s Gospel (John), we see exactly the same miracles as the first reading.  Only this time, it’s being done in person, by Jesus.  Showing us exactly who Jesus is.  And showing us that even if things feel overwhelming or impossible, He is bigger than that, and He can be trusted.
