And then I get to leave

Next to things that actually threaten your life, nothing hurts like finding out that something's going on.  And nobody told you about it.

Maybe you were intentionally left out, or maybe no one thought to tell you.  It's hard to say which is worse.  She plays it for laughs, but the title of Mindy Kaling's book is a question that can really hit home.

Sunday's first reading (Isaiah) sounds like all of the Isaiah readings during Advent.  Full of restoration and the glory of the Lord.  If you're one of God's people.

What if I'm not?  There's still a place for me in all of Isaiah's wonderfulness.   I get to pay for it.  I get to bring the goodies.  And then I get to leave.

But that's all about to change.

More on this tomorrow.  Readings for Epiphany
