It’s the most annoying question ever. But it’s just one of many ways ("What about now?" "Do we have to wait for...?" "How much longer...?" etc.) to ask one the most basic questions. “When?”
This Sunday’s first reading (Baruch) reaches back to last Sunday’s first reading (Jeremiah). Last Sunday, the first reading was all about a promise. This Sunday, the first reading doesn’t wait for the obvious “when.”
Without even being asked, it answers the unspoken question. With the only thing you really want to hear after a "when" question.
"It starts now."
