Lent isn’t about denial, not doing this and giving up that. We need to get rid of things, but that’s not the point. We’re getting rid of things so we’re light enough to move.
Because Lent is all about movement. Away from all of the things and stuff and busyness. Into the desert.
Why? So we can see things as they really are. So we can get our perspective back. On life. On ourselves.
Because in the middle of all of the things and stuff and busyness, it’s easy to lose that perspective.
And that’s what Sunday’s readings are all about. About moving past the rut of things and stuff and busyness, and seeing the things that really matter. The things with eternal consequences.
