A couple of Sundays ago, the Gospel (for the 3rd Scrutiny) was Lazarus. There were conversations with Martha and Mary about eternal life and who Jesus really is. And, of course, Jesus raises Lazarus from the dead. It's like a preview of Easter.
Tomb empty? Check.
Burial cloths set aside? Check.
Alive with friends and family? Check.
Except for the different ways they died, basically it's the same thing, right?
Not exactly. When Lazarus comes out of the tomb, he's back to being Lazarus. While he's alive again, not much else has really changed.
With Jesus, there's a difference. Make no mistake, it's definitely Jesus back from the dead. But there's something else going on here.
