And the actual Catholic view of marriage would be?
Grounded in Sunday’s first reading (Genesis). The Church has a deep and beautiful understanding of marriage. And it all starts here, with a word and with an image.
There’s a word at the heart of marriage. It describes the relationship that God made us for, from the very beginning. Partner.
And the image? Being made from the rib. It tells you the kind of partner that God means.
It’s not a business transaction. Or friends with benefits.
This is a partnership like no other. It’s personal, intimate, connected. On the deepest possible level. Literally a part of you.
