The feast of Corpus Christi falls on the Thursday after Trinity Sunday.
Corpus Christi is celebrated on Thursday in many countries – but not in the U.S. Just like the Ascension (and what can feel like everything but Ash Wednesday and Good Friday), here Corpus Christi gets moved to following Sunday.
With an official name like “the Solemnity of the Most Holy Body and Blood of Christ”, you know two things about Corpus Christi. First, you know why people just call it “Corpus Christi” instead of “the Solemnity of the Most Holy Body and Blood of Christ.” And the second thing?
That it has something to do with the Eucharist.
More on the second thing tomorrow.
