No take backs.

No take backs.

When I was a kid, there were some rules that we all followed. They weren’t written down anywhere, but they might as well have been the law.

One of the big ones was “no take backs.”

If you gave somebody something, you didn’t ask for it back. If you said you would do something, you didn’t go back on your word.

No take backs.

But that’s not just how kids work. Today’s reading from Romans shows that there’s someone else who believes in no take backs.

No matter what you’ve done. No matter how much you’ve rejected God in the past. No matter how bad you think it is.

God’s invitation still stands. God’s mercy is ready and waiting. For you.

And He’s called “no take backs.” On Himself.
