Christmastide is packed with feasts and special days – St. Stephen the First Martyr, the Holy Family, Mary the Mother of God (this Friday), etc. After Christmas, the second most important feast in the season is Epiphany (this Sunday).
It even gets its own countdown song.
But the "12 Days of Christmas" aren't the days before Christmas. They're the days between Christmas and Epiphany. The actual date is the 6th, but we celebrate it on the nearest Sunday (I know it's not 12 - we're Americans, we're still learning our numbers, be nice).
Okay, it's important. What is it? An "epiphany" reveals something about a divine being. For the Epiphany of the Lord, Jesus is the divine being in question.
So what’s being revealed?
