People hear what you do. If what I do doesn't line up with what I say, I'm really saying - "ignore me, I don't mean it." And hopefully, they do.
What if they don't? What if they follow my mess of an example? Let's just say Jesus gets pretty graphic in Sunday's Gospel (Mark) with His warning about the consequences.
But the opposite is also true. When what you say and what you do line up, it means something. And when it's what God has called you to do, it's powerful.
Which is why people were in awe of Pope Francis this week. After addressing a joint session of Congress, he ditched the official lunch. To be with the homeless.
And everyone heard what he did.
