The Catholic Church doesn't rush into things. Just about everything it does happens in small, careful steps, over months or years.
Want to be Catholic? There's lots to learn. It'll take about a year. And there will be small steps along the way, each with a name.
It's kind of like that with becoming a priest or a deacon. There's lots to learn. It'll take 4-5 years. And there will be small steps along the way, each with a name.
Why bring this up? On the Saturday before Corpus Christi, the bishop instituted my deacon candidate class (and even me) as acolytes. Which is the last step before our ordination as deacons next June, God willing.
So what's an acolyte?
More on this tomorrow.
