“Pay attention.”

“How many times do I have to tell you…”

If you’ve got the attention span of a goldfish,

stuff like this is a regular part of your life.  At least it is for me.

Which is really frustrating for somebody who’s trying to do things with you or explain things to you.  They usually end up repeating themselves, a lot.  Or just giving up.

Sunday’s first reading (Genesis) is a life-altering moment with God.  Abraham will never be the same after this.  Except he is.  Almost as soon as it’s done, Abraham is back to business as usual.

Whether he’s got the attention span of a goldfish, or it’s just the pull of habit, God ends up doing stuff like this over and over again.  Until Abraham finally gets it.

The amazing part?  That God doesn’t give up.

More on this tomorrow.  Readings for Sunday
