With us in the storms

The first reading (Job) is just a small part of what God says to Job and his friends, to let them know exactly who they are dealing with.  But it’s there for a reason.  Just like the Psalm.

The first reading and the Psalm are clear.  Only God can command the storm and the sea.  While that sounds kind of obvious, given what’s about to happen in the Gospel (Mark), it’s also important.  So there can be no mistake about who is acting in the Gospel.

And then the Gospel, the part we wouldn’t expect.  That such a powerful God would love us so much that he would become one of us.  To be with us in the storms (literal and otherwise), and to see us safely through.

That’s who God is.  And that’s how much we are loved.

More on this tomorrow.
