After the emotional high of Easter, things just seem a little unsettled. Not bad. Just…uncertain. Something’s coming.
The first reading (Acts) has a throwback to John the Baptist. When he said the one coming after him would baptize with the Holy Spirit and with fire. And Jesus tells us this is about to happen.
But before it does, something else that has to happen first. And that something is the point of both the first reading and the Gospel (Luke).
After everything that’s happened (as if the Resurrection wasn’t enough), the Ascension shows us that Jesus is who He says He is. And that what we are waiting for is more than worth the wait.
